IPL 2021 will be the fourteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. Recently, the IPL 2021 auction came to a close, and once again, a lot of cash was splashed in the market when the franchises stepped down for the first battle, prior to the tournament. A lot of overseas players made the headlines in the IPL 2021 auction while some Indian youngsters were also on the cards in this year’s auction. In this auction, South African all-rounder Chris Morris made headlines by becoming IPL’s most expensive buy of all time. Morris was fetched by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 16.25 crore. Meanwhile, Krishnappa Gowtham became the highest uncapped Indian buy of all time. He was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 9.25 crore.

IPL 2021 Schedule And Date

On 30 January 2021, the BCCI confirmed that they were confident to host the tournament in India. They also said that the UAE wasn’t being considered a backup venue. As of late February, the BCCI was considering hosting the tournament in a few shortlisted cities, which included Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Chennai, with Mumbai as an additional option.

On 7th March BCCI officially announced the schedule of IPL 2021. The opening match will be played between Mumbai and Bangalore on 9th April. The defending champion Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. The playoffs and the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
